She's Got Game Pizza Day Serves Up $4,260 to Female Scholarships

Updated: Jan 15

For the second year in a row, Gryphon Athletics and Domino's Pizza of Guelph partnered together for 'Gryphon Pizza Day' and almost doubled last year's total dollars raised to support female athletics scholarships at the University of Guelph!

The second annual Gryphon Pizza Day on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020 was another huge success with Domino's locations across Guelph serving up an incredible 1,065 pizzas, resulting in a total of $4,260 going to support Gryphon women's athletic scholarships.

From 11am to 11pm on Tuesday, customers from all over the community had the opportunity to pick up a large cheese or pepperoni pizza for just $7.99 with Domino's generously donating $4 from every pizza sold to the 'She's Got Game' initiative launched in October, 2018.

"This is an important day in the calendar for Gryphon Athletics and the She's Got Game movement," said Director of Athletics, Scott McRoberts. "It was great to see the Gryphon community come together to support this great initiative and we were thrilled to partner up with our friends at Domino's again."

And the fun isn't over as the Department of Athletics hosts it's 5th Annual She's Got Game Gala on Saturday, Feb. 15th, 2020. The Gala celebrates the commitment, determination, and excellence of our Gryphon female student-athletes while raising money to help contribute to their future academic and athletic success. This year's special guest speaker is Britt Benn, former Guelph Gryphons women's rugby standout and current member of the Canadian Women's Rugby sevens program.

Last year's She's Got Game Gala raised a total of $38,000 through ticket sales, sponsorship and auction items. To view and bid on our current auction, click here. Auction closes at 8:30pm on Saturday, Feb. 15th, 2020.
