Fundraising Update

The concept of She’s Got Game started as a drive to raise funds for women’s scholarships at the University of Guelph. As the initiative has evolved fundraising remains a key pillar of what we hope to accomplish. Our goal is to raise $2,500,000 to dramatically increase the named award support for female student-athletes at the University of Guelph. This will allow us to recruit and retain student-athletes who will live the She’s Got Game mantra of World-Class Scholars, World-Class Athletes, and World-Class Citizens.

When fundraising for She’s Got Game began for every dollar that was donated for female student-athletics scholarships three dollars was donated for male student athletes. Over the past few years we have seen tremendous growth in our donor supported female athletic scholarships, since 2015 our named scholarships for female student athletes have increased by 1000% (see chart). This coming fall, 2019, we will present our first-ever named scholarships in Field Hockey, Soccer and Wrestling, after having done so in Volleyball this past fall. We now have at least one named scholarship in each of our sports that competes at the U SPORTS level.

We have also made substantial strides towards our goal and are pleased to report that we are now over $800,000 raised towards our $2,500,000 goal. We greatly appreciate the over 25 individuals and corporations who have supported the initiative, and our student-athletes, through She’s Got Game and we look forward to sharing their stories with you over the coming months.

We also encourage anyone interested in supporting female student-athletes at the University of Guelph to visit www.shesgotgame or contact Chris Moulton at cmoulton@uoguelph.ca or Sam Kosakowski skosakow@uoguelph.ca for more information.
