Enchanted Masquerade Fashion Show raises over $9,000 for She’s Got Game

You know what’s better than a great party? Partying for a good cause, especially when the party itself brings together Gryphon athletes, donors, supporters, coaches, community and youth from the City.

On October 26th, Gryphon Athletics hosted the second annual Enchanted Masquerade Fashion Show presented by OneTooth Active Wear Guelph and Gryph’s Locker. The night brought together nearly 200 attendees in support of the She’s Got Game campaign to fund athletic scholarships for Gryphon female student-athletes.

The University of Guelph, Summerlee Science Complex served as a scenic background for the one-of-a-kind night which debuted the newest She’s Got Game clothing line. A selection of student-athletes, coaches, junior gryphons, and members of the community were the models.

The sold out event was a huge success raising over $9,000 from ticket sales and fundraising. “This event was spectacular from the location and atmosphere to the dynamic music and clothing,” said Joy Pearson, Gryphon Athletics donor and supporter. “It captured the essence of what She’s Got Game is all about, seeing and feeling everyone’s confidence as they took the stage, leadership as we all nailed our best moves and communication with being able to meet and talk with some great Gryphon women.”

One of these current Gryphon’s was basketball student-athlete Burke Bechard who participated as a model and commented.

“The night was empowering and fun! We’re incredibly thankful we have the support of She’s Got Game. The clothing is comfy, stylish and has a great message behind it and on it. Certain articles of clothing have powerful messages and the whole brand is about equality and empowerment. We’re very fortunate to have the support of this initiative.”

The new SGG clothing line includes sayings like: ‘She Believed She Could So She Did,’ ‘I Deserve This,’ ‘I’ve Got Her Back,’ and ‘I Will Get There.’ Continuing the fundraising all year long, the clothing line will be available at Gryph’s Locker located in the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre and at One Tooth Activewear Guelph.

“I believe 100% in this initiative and everything it stands for. As a past female athlete and one that continues to have sport in my life to this day, it empowers woman to be strong, confident and a leader on and off the court, key attributes to carry with them throughout their growing life. I love the clothing and the look, the message it communicates.” – Joy Pearson
